Love the unit very much as it works extremely well.
I am severely allergic to dust and pollen, so much so that the doctors have had me taking one type of once a day antihistamine in the morning, a different one in the evenings, and carry a rescue inhaler in case allergens trigger an asthmatic attack (cut grass nearly sent me to icu the summer before last, actually). I’m sure i don’t have to tell you had bad the pollen has been this year. This has been a literal godsend. I dust and vacuum my house thoroughly daily and keep our pets well brushed. Even so, with all the windows closed, the air quality is usually less than ideal. It’s summer now and keeping the windows closed isn’t the most ideal thing, either. Using the app, i can assess the day’s current air quality and make decisions on how to use this machine. If the particulate count is high for the day, i usually turn it on early enough in the morning to run it on a low-speed setting to get the air in the lunge area as optimal as possible, then turn it up once i open the windows. It’s lightweight, too,(once out of the packaging) so it is easy to move from room to room where it’s needed. I’ve been able to breathe much easier and since using this, i haven’t needed to use my inhaler on days i’m mainly indoors, and on those days, i’ve been cleared to use just the one antihistamine.

It’s a beautiful slick unit – very modern in design. It’s quite large, so it needs to be placed on the floor – not a tabletop. It works by self adjusting to monitor and filter the air, removing allergens and pollutants. You need to download the app as per the instructions, and this gives you up to date info on air quality in your local area. Controlling the unit is so easy. It has buttons that just need the lightest touch, and you can adjust to the level of filtration you need (just check your instructions). The instructions are simple, and although its a great fat booklet, don’t panic, it’s just a few pages, with simple instructions, in many languageswe set ours up in a downstairs living room where i work. The is a ring of light on the front of the unit that is colour coded, and the colours change to indicate the current air quality. Blue being fair, then purple, pink and then red for very high pollutants present.
Have autumn allergies and this has improved my breathing considerably. It is expensive however would definitely recommend it.
Elegant, automatic, quiet and made a huge difference to hay fever/dust sufferers in the house.
Philips AC3256/60 Air Purifier Anti-Allergen with NanoProtect S3 Filter, 60 W : Absolutely brilliantthe air in our lounge is so much clearerit’s a bit big but can be located in a corner of the room and is still effective. Our daughter expressed it beautifully: “it’s as if everything has suddenly come into perfect focus instead of being a bit fuzzy and blurred”streaming sunlight no longer reveals a “snowstorm” of dust particles in the air.
I bought this to use instead of a window fan extractor which was making a lot of noise and introducing cold air into the room. This is fairly easy to use although it took me some time with the instruction book working out the various controls on the top. Now i have mastered it i am very happy with the purifier and it indicates immediately there is any pollution in the air. The room feels fresher than it has for years and i would certainly recommend this model.
Noticeable difference in air quality. Noisy when speed changes – not great for (small) bedroom.
Worth every penny, as a severe allergic asthmatic. It has been worth its weight in gold.
Used this often as i have cats. It does feel like the air is fresher when i use it.
I have been running the philips ac3259/60 air purifier for a few days and so far it seems to be doing all i expected of it – time will tell how effective it will be long-term. Setup is fairly straightforward but there are a few tips that may be useful. The unit is quite large and is floor-standing – so the box it arrives in is fairly heavy. Once the unit is unpacked the filters need to properly installed – they come already packed within the body of the machine but they need to be taken out to remove the protective plastic wrapping around them and then refitted in the same order as they came out. There is one pre-filter which catches most of the dust and debris in the air and can be cleaned and washed as required; this is followed by two non-cleanable filters that need to be replaced on a regular basis. These filters are philips parts fy3432 and fy3433 and the cost of replacing these needs to be factored into your purchasing decision. The philips ac3259/60 can be connected to your wi-fi so you can use the “air matters” app – this is not a dedicated philips app but one that works with a variety of other devices too. To pair this air purifier to your router you need to download the app – i am using the ios version – then connect your smartphone wirelessly to the unit, instead of to your router, then follow the instructions in the app – you will need to input the passcode for your router. To use the app you will need to either create an air matters account or log in using one of your social media or other online ids; the app will then display the air quality actually detected by your machine’s sensor as well as for other towns and cities around the world. The app does not allow you to control or change any settings on your unit – it is purely a monitor with a couple of extra features.
Very quiet, and deals with pm2. 5 quickly – at least that’s what the display shows ;-).
Excellent product and easy to use. I bought this to cut down the dust in my house and it works very well. It is a fair size but very easy to move from room to romm.
Feeling of clean air in the room.
I suffer from severe hay fever. Having two of these has helped noticeably. I can’t comment on the accuracy of the claims of this filter, 99. 9% removal – but when walking into a room and having had this thing on medium to full blast – the room smells fresh and clean. It’s an odd sensation, but other people have noticed too. Normally when you’re in the room it ticks over silently.
a single star rating is tricky for this. 5 stars for purifying / cleaning air2 stars for noise (sometimes sounds like an electric razor but not constant, the note/tone changes) and especially for an item in this price range. 5 stars for appearance (grey inner filter being visible against black lines when viewed from slightly left or right of centre spoil it a little, where the air in drawn in)4 stars for power consumption (except when off uses about 1. 3 watts to work the wifi connection and to monitor air quality)4 stars for the app (third party app used to control it and adverts removed when you link it to your purifier)5 stars for setup (easy, follow unpacking instructions on product box top and wifi setup worked first time with android)3 stars imho for electric basic electrical/fire safety. Maximum load of purifier is 60 watts which is about 0. 25amp so the plug is fitted with a 13 amp fuse (i replaced this with a 3 amp fuse which will protect the size of the mains lead fitted from overload). The unit works well but in full automatic and the pollution levels are low the machine can make the most unpleasant buzzing humming noises and i see on searching i am not alone with this issue with this and other models in the range. Hopefully you will hear the noise on my short video clip. By taking it out of auto you can pick settings where all you hear is what is normal fan / air noise. You can also turn off the ring led light which changes colour depending upon air quality mode.
Really does a good job and quiet in operation. With the colour change and numerical read out you can clearly see how the air quality is. Due to its effect the sneezing because of allergens has really improved.
Great noise level and works well. Love the colour coding to show as air purifies. You have to work out to hold the switch for 2-3 seconds to switch off.
Simply life changing and probably the best money i’ve ever spent. My wife suffered terribly with allergies to dust, pet hair, pollen, etc. However after a day with this running, no more sneezing inside the house. There has been a really dramatic improvement to her health since purchasing this and for that reason i’d fully recommend to anyone with allergies that is currently suffering inside the house.
A very impressive air purifier with many options for every property.
I’ve given 1 star for noise level because on standard settings it’s very quiet – so it’s not a bad grade.
Every home can benefit with one or two of these leave air fresh allergy free clean perfecr.
